SPOLETO MUSIC ACADEMY is proud to announce a master class for baroque violin with the world famous violinist Enrico Gatti.
The course is open both to master students on period instruments and to modern violinists who wish to undertake a serious course of study on the historical violin.
« Non udite lo parlare? »
This phrase, reported by Roger North in his writings (1695-1728) and addressed by Arcangelo
Corelli to his pupils, is paradigmatic of the violin aesthetics of the 17th and 18th centuries, always
striving to imitate “the most perfect human voice”
Beyond all regional and national borders and the stylistic differences that existed in the broad
musical panorama of the Baroque era, what interests us is to bring the instrumental writing and
the poetic and declamatory language back into the right relationship, whether the compositions
are intended for the religious or the profane sphere.
The masterclass will focus on correct sound emission, care for the tone of voice, pronunciation,
the good separation of the “senses” and the directionality of the phrase.
Every day there will be individual lessons and a group meeting on topics essential to the research.
Full students are required to have a Baroque bow and a violin with gut strings.
